Mustangs show resolve as Williams, defense lead comeback effort, 28-21

JACKSBORO – They never had the lead in the second half.
They needed a 19-play drive that sucked up most of the fourth quarter to even have a chance.
Then they forced overtime with an end-zone interception.
City View’s resolve was tested so many times in a highly anticipated District 6-3A Division II opener against Jacksboro Friday night that it would have been understandable if the Mustangs had cracked.
But City View didn’t. And after Malachi Williams’ 25-yard touchdown run combined with a defensive stand, the No. 8 Mustangs could finally take a breath, celebrating a 28-21 overtime victory over the sixth-ranked Tigers.
