Week 1 area football thoughts
Seymour's Loyd at it again; Memorial/Legacy debuts; Electra, Bowie get big wins

Welcome to one of my favorite things I used to write while at the newspaper.
Every Sunday night during the high school football season, I’d put a bunch of thoughts down in a blog-type format. I didn’t continue it when I got into teaching/coaching, but we’re bringing it back for the Red River Roundup.
Because this thing is likely going to be 1,000 words or more, I’m breaking it down into sections. But if you like area football even half as much as I do, it’s worth your time, I promise!
Now that we’ve got the introduction out of the way, I wanted to ask a question. If I told you to guess how many yards/touchdowns Seymour quarterback Brayden Loyd would throw for this year, how high would your guess be before you felt like it was unattainable?
The reason I ask this is because I think Loyd could smash the area single-season passing marks. Lando Belcher set the yardage record last year with 4,319. The touchdown record is owned by Graham’s Tucker Horn, who had 54 in 2017.
