Windthorst's Tackett joins exclusive group of area coaches

Windthorst coach Chris Tackett joined an exclusive club after Friday night’s 46-21 victory over Henrietta.
Tackett became the 15th head football coach to win 100 games at one area school.* It’s a list topped by his Trojan predecessor Bill Green (174 wins) and includes multiple Hall of Famers.
*Byron West (Henrietta/Petrolia) and Matt Robinson (Holliday/Electra) won more than 100 games at two area schools combined. West had 99 at Henrietta and Robinson had 97 at Holliday.
Tackett admitted he was a little uncomfortable by all the attention. He’s usually a laid-back guy who spent 15 years as Green’s assistant before taking over the Trojan program in 2012.
“It’s this community and all the coaches I’ve been around and all the players,” Tackett said. “It’s fun and a great thing. (The attention) is a little embarrassing, it just is. You’d rather have team stuff.”
